Print of the Month - April 2022
Published by George Baxter in 1859, this is one of ten small subjects printed together on a sheet and designed to be used as adornments for needle-boxes.
Each subject measures only 4.5 by 2.5 cm and would decorate the lid of a box the same size. The ten boxes would be sold inside a larger box with another Baxter Print on its lid.
George Baxter's produced 10 different sets of needle-box subjects between 1850 and 1851. The set this print was part of is the "Figures & Landscapes" set.
