Print of the Month - April 2023
One of a set of 10 prints, known as the "Cathedrals in England" set that was designed and printed by Bradshaw & Blacklock for use as decoration on the lids of small needle boxes in the 1850s.
The 10 small needleboxes would then be placed inside a larger box that was also usually decorated by a Baxter Process print.
Each of the smaller prints measures approximately 3.5 x 5.5 cm.
The name of the cathedral is printed on each subject. They are from top left down:
