Cookie Policy - How the New Baxter Society uses Cookies on its Website

We use cookies and similar tools on our website to enhance your user experience and improve performance. This policy explains how we do that.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files which a website may put on your computer / mobile device when you visit a site or page. The cookie will help the website, or another website, recognise your device the next time you visit. Web beacons or other similar files can also do the same thing. In this policy we use the term “cookies” to refer to all files that collect information in this way.

Cookies serve many functions. For example, they can help the website to remember your username and preferences or analyse how a website is performing.

Some cookies contain personal information. Ffor example, if you click “remember me” when logging in, a cookie will store your username. Most cookies don’t collect information that identifies users, they collect instead general information such as how visitors/users arrive at and use the website, or a visitor’s/user’s general location.

What types of cookies does the New Baxter Society use?

In general, our cookies perform up to three different functions:

1. Essential cookies Some cookies are essential for the complete and correct operation of our website. For example, some cookies allow us to identify members who have requested to use our members pages and ensure they can gain access to these members only pages. If a member disables these cookies, the member may not be able to access the content in the members pages.

2. Performance Cookies We use other cookies to analyse how visitors make use of our website and to monitor website performance. This allows us to provide a quality experience by quickly identifying any issues that arise. For example, we might use performance cookies to keep track of which pages are the most popular and to determine why some pages are generating error messages.

3. Functionality Cookies We use functionality cookies to maintain your shopping basket and to monitor acceptance of the use of cookies so that we can avoid displaying our cookie acceptance message every time you visit our site. If you disable these cookies you will not be able to shop on our site and will always see our cookie acceptance message at the top of every page.

We do not use Behaviourally Targeted Advertising Cookies.

We do not track whether users open our emails.

Does anyone else use cookies on the New Baxter Society website?

We use or allow third parties to serve cookies that fall into the three categories above. For example, like many other organisations, we use Google Analytics to help us monitor our website traffic.

How can a website user block cookies?

As explained above, cookies help you to make full use our website. If however you do wish to disable our cookies, then please follow the instructions on our Managing Cookies page.

If you do choose to disable cookies, please remember that you may find that certain pages of our website do not work properly.
